Indonesia has the
fourth largest education system in the world yet in a landmark education report
of 50 nations, Indonesia ranked last. For a country that has been experiencing
a stable 5 to 6 percent annual economic growth rate and is classed as a middle income
country by the World Bank, it is sad that it’s education system and thus it’s
youth are not benefitting. (source: www.aliquidfuture.com)
Indonesia is lagging
behind other developing countries in terms of developments in the education
sector. Based on the Education For All Global Monitoring Report 2011 publised
by UNESCO, out of the 127 countries in the Education Development Index (EDI)
Indonesia placed 69th, Malaysia 65th and Brunei 34th.
According to the facts
above, education in Indonesia has many aspects that should be improved, neither
internal nor external sides. It is become an open secret that public can find out
in television, neswpaper, website, and etc. Some problems in education have
revealed in those medias such as: physical violence in school, act of
despising, corruptions, and others.
“Education is a process
as human being to understanding everything and apply what they get into daily
life,” said Nesya Maya, as a candidat of teacher. She gives her concern about
education in Indonesia. There are some cases in education that should be common
notice based on her point of view:
1. Education for children.
It
is most important for children to get education from early age. Because through
education, children’s characteristics are formed. They deserve to get education
in order to get better life in the future. It is good if parents care about
children’s education so much. But in reality, there are so many children who
drop out because some reasons, the most reason is the expensive cost.
2. Curriculum Implementation.
She
thinks if 2013 curriculum is not effective to learning process for the student.
She more agrees with previous curriculum, KTSP curriculum. Because KTSP
curriculum is more effective in learning process for the student. The teacher
more active to give an explaination in order to the student understood. 2013
curriculum demands for the students to understand by themselves.
3.
Education’s Problems.
Parents
definitely worry when seeing some news in television about negative aspect of
education, such as pyhsical violent and act of despising in school. It is
become common concern in Indonesia. Parents bring their children to school in
order to get good education, but in reality the children be a victim. Its so
terrible if this problem will continue in other areas.
4. Education Development.
She
gives her concern in education in devious region also. She thinks it is need
special attention from the government to make a special learning program in
devious region to drumming up this country. Government should be able to spark
off new generations, not only rich children but also poor children in devious
region.
5. Problems Solving.
Education’s
problem is not one or two people problem, when the problems appear, its become
general responsibility. In the future, there is no pyhsical violent and act of
despising anymore. Government must take a look if there are so much internal
and external problem in education that should find out the solution. During
education development, it should be followed with reparation in system itself.
Government also do monitoring and controlling how the school work out.
She close with her
statement, “To be a smart country, the government should be looking for best of
the best teacher in order to teach the children correctly. There are so many
troubles in education itself, so the government and people involved should
aware and pay attention to keep the education in order to save the next
generation.”
